Two-phase treatment is effective because it starts with children to prevent a developing problem, allowing for normal growth of the face and mouth. Your child may benefit from early orthodontic intervention if he or she has lost teeth early or late, has difficulty chewing or biting, sucks his or her thumb, breathes through the mouth, grinds or clenches, or has crowded teeth, speech problems, facial imbalance, overbite or underbite.
Phase I
Phase I treatment is most effective for children between ages seven and ten, because most orthodontic problems are easier to correct if found early. Phase I treatment may prevent more serious treatment that could be needed at a later age.
Phase I
Phase II treatment moves permanent teeth into their final position.
